About Me

My path to teaching yoga is unique. I was a community organizer and social worker passionate about social justice. I pursued yoga training as a way to bring more balance into my life. This training not only allowed me to deepen my own practice and develop better self-care, it nurtured my desire to pursue social justice, healing and health. My path towards combining these interests continues to evolve. I have studied and practiced many forms of yoga, and believe that each method has something to offer students. I teach beginner-to-intermediate level classes that combine classical Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, and the playful heart of Anusara. My classes focus on building strength and flexibility of both body and mind, while learning to respect their boundaries. I incorporate breathing practices as well as humor and compassion. My students range from age 17 to 78, and I am mindful of helping each student practice to the best of his or her ability taking into account injuries, limitations, ego, fears and misconceptions. In my classes, students will sweat some, breathe deeply, and find neat little spaces in the body and the mind to remind them they are alive.
